🦃👟The Ridgway YMCA is sponsoring a Turkey Trot 5K Walk/Run on November 3 at 1:30 PM. It will start at the trailhead of the Clarion-little Toby Trail in Ridgway. It might seem far away, but if you register by October 4, you get a $10 discount, plus a guaranteed t-shirt. There is no same-day registration. 🎟️ Don’t forget to buy your ticket for the Elk County Catholic 8th Annual Athletic Association Outdoor Bash Raffle. Each $30 ticket includes admission to the drawing on Sunday, October 20 from 12-4 PM, a meal and a chance on one of the leading ticket items. Winners can opt to take an item voucher, gift certificate or $250 cash. More information can be found here.
🦌🚙 Just a heads up: There will be a State Game Lands Driving Tour next Sunday, October 6 from 9 AM - 1 PM. This roughly 3.5-mile self-guided driving tour will start at the Winslow Hill Viewing Area in Benezette, then enter the game lands at the bottom of Dewey Road, continuing to Porcupine Road. Game Commission staff will be posted along the tour route. The tour will take an inside look at habitat projects as well as hunting and trapping opportunities on public lands. There is no cost to take part. More information can be found here.
September is Literacy Month and Spitzer Autoworld St. Marys is having a Book Drive to support the St. Marys Public Library. They are accepting new or gently used books and monetary donations at all three of their locations until the end of the month.
TUESDAY (10/1)
📚 Join author Rebecca Titchner at the St. Marys Public Library at 6 PM as she shares the details of her new book A Ghost Comes Calling - a true story telling one woman’s journey to understand herself and her birth family. — 📍127 Center Street, St. Marys
THURSDAY (10/3)
🚗 If you appreciate classic cars, head on over to Straub’s Tap Room from 5-9 PM where they have teamed up with Elk County Cruisers for a Cruise-In. It’s sure to be a great show — plus, there will be food and drink specials and chances to win prizes. — 📍444 Brusselles Street, St. Marys
👻 The Flower Bar is hosting a CEMETARIUM WORKSHOP on October 3 at 6 PM. The cost is $65 and includes everything to build a spooky terrarium — glassware, plants and spooky decorations — plus, a light snack! You can buy your ticket here. —📍167 Main Street, Ridgway
FRIDAY (10/4)
😱 It’s October - cue all things Halloween, including spooky experiences such as the 4th Annual “IT’s DERRY TErRiFYinG” HAUNTED TRAIL WALK tonight and tomorrow night from 7-10 PM. There will two paths to choose from, depending on how much you can tolerate. There will be concessions for sale and multiple basket raffle items. The cost is $5/person (kids 5 and under are free). Money raised will benefit the Ridgway Skate Park. — 📍Sandy Beach Park, 6712 Laurel Mill Road, Ridgway
🔦 Do you enjoy a little challenge? How about walking through a corn maze .. in the dark?! Pine Ridge Farm is hosting a series of FLASHLIGHT CORN MAZES and the first ones are happening this weekend (10/4 and 10/5) after sunset. The last entrance time will be 8:30 PM. Don’t forget your flashlight! There will also be a bon fire, hay rides and a concession stand. Can’t make it this weekend? They will also be happening October 11,12 and 18. $5/person. — 📍662 Kemmer Road, Kersey

🎡 As part of Straub Brewery’s Customer Appreciation Day, The Boys and Girls Club of St. Marys will have carnival games and face painting for the kiddos from 12-5 PM (P.S. There will be food and drink specials all day for the big kids 21+.) — 444 Brusselles Street, St. Marys
📖🌿 Mark your calendars: There will be an unveiling of the Ridgway Public Library Story Walk on October 12 at 11 AM and you are invited to take part with your family. An interactive experience, it will be a permanent installation featuring 18 stops all within the first mile of the Clarion-Little Toby Creek Trail. Each family in attendance will receive a free book. The event will also include a Family Story Time where children will walk and hear their first story —“Tidy” by Emily Gravett — and then make nature journals to help commemorate the event.
