🫎 The Elk Country Visitor Center has a variety of talks and activities every month, including two this week: “Cocoa and Chat” today (Sunday, November 17) and “PA Black Bears” on Saturday, November 23. Make sure to keep an eye on their schedule to see what’s happening each week. You can check it out here.

🎄Do you remember being told to make your [insert family member] a homemade card for their birthday because it would be more special to them than anything that could be bought in a store? Well, this is the same idea, but a little bit more grown up:
On Thursday, December 5 from 6-8 PM, Janet VanEerden is going to teach you watercolor techniques that will then be used to make 8 original postcards (use them as Christmas cards or as something unique to display for your out-of-town guests).
The cost is $25, which includes the cards and instruction. Class size is limited so reserve a spot if you’re interested by emailing [email protected]. For more information, click here.

✨ St. Marys Parks and Recreation is hosting their last Paint and Sip of the year on Thursday, December 19 from 6-8 PM. The deadline to register is December 12. You can choose from four different wood crafts, which cost between $45-$50. Class size is limited - Register here.

❓Do you know a little bit about everything? The Ram is hosting a General Trivia Night on Monday, November 18 from 7-9 PM. There is no fee to sign up, but space is limited so reserve your spot soon.

✍️ Local author PJ Piccirillo will be at Elk County Council on the Arts on Thursday, November 21 from 6-8 PM to discuss his new novel "The Indigo Scarf", an exploration of the slave experience in rural northern Appalachia. There will be a presentation and Q&A.

🛍️ There are three markets happening on Saturday, November 23. These are great events where you can get start to get serious about your holiday shopping or just have fun with a group of friends.
Johnsonburg’s Holidayfest is happening at the Fire Hall (📍99 Clarion Road, Johnsonburg) from 9 AM-3 PM. It will have 68 tables filled with vendors and the following:
Raffle prizes: 3 for $5
50/50
Chinese auction: 10 for $5
Henry 25th Anniversary Brass Lever Action limited edition #19/25 45-70 Caliber (includes display case): $5 chances
The Fire Department Auxiliary Kitchen will be selling a variety of food
Johnsonburg Fire Department Gun Bash tickets (February 15, 2025) will be on sale for the first time for $20/each.
Johnsonburg’s Holiday Market ( 📍Community Center, 600 Market Street, Johnsonburg) is happening at the same time (until 2 PM) where even more vendors are going to be set up!
The November Blue Jay Market is happening at the Bennett’s Valley Community Center from 10 AM-3 PM.
🎶 Grace Notes Studio is hosting their fall recital on Saturday, November 23 at 6 PM in the Johnsonburg High School Auditorium. It will feature voice, piano and guitar students of owner and teacher, Tracie Pretak. Admission is $5.

🦃 Students in grades 4-8 are invited to a series of After School Discover Days where they will tackle exciting turkey-themed Bristlebot challenges.
What’s a bristlebot, you may ask? (I had no idea what it was, so I’m going to explain it) I’m told that a bristlebot looks like a large toothbrush head that has a little motor attached to the top of it and that the bot moves using vibrations.
They will take place on the following days:
Tuesday, November 19 at the Johnsonburg Public Library from 4:30 - 6:30 PM
Thursday, November 21 at the Ridgway Public Library from 3:00-4:30 PM
Tuesday, November 26 at the Boys and Girls Club of St. Marys from 4-5 PM
There is no cost to attend and no registration is required. Students who attend and complete the exit ticket will be entered into a drawing for an Amazon gift card.
⚽️ Kids in Kindergarten through 8th grade are invited to the Boys & Girls Club of St. Marys to play INDOOR SOCCER on Wednesday, November 20 from 4:30-5:30 PM. The event is free for members and just $5 for non-members. Questions? Stop into the club or call 814-781-1910.

📚 There is going to be a fun event — Storytime with Mrs. Bauer — for the little people in your life (specifically, those between the ages of 4-5 years old) on Wednesday, November 20 between 6-7 PM. Children will listen to a reading of “Turkey Tumble” by Jonah Newman — a fun Thanksgiving-themed book — and then take part in a craft activity. There will also be a snack. The cost is $5/child. Registration is required.
