🗳️ Vote for your favorite Elk County businesses in the St. Marys Press and Ridgway Record’s “BEST OF THE BEST OF ELK COUNTY 2024”. You can vote once per day in each subcategory. Voting continues until August 31 at 11:59 PM.

🐴 Looking for something unique to do this fall? HORSE DRAWN WAGON RIDES are back at the Elk Country Visitor’s Center in Benezette and are a great way to experience Elk Country! These 45 minute rides are offered Thursday through Monday evenings and are $20/person. More information is available by clicking here.

🎟️ What would it feel like to win a cool $5,000 cash? Buy a ticket in the Ridgway Library’s 300 Club TICKET RAFFLE and you might find out. Tickets are $50 a piece and are available for purchase at the library circulation desk and from any active board member. There are only 300 tickets available. The drawing is December 12, 2024. 🎨🍷 It might seem early, but if you’re interested in any of the PAINT AND SIPS hosted by St. Marys’ Parks and Rec this year, you might want to register now before they sell out. The first one is on September 19, but seats are expected to go fast. Learn more about these events by clicking here.

🎭 Tickets are now on sale for the Footlighter’s of Elk County’s PRODUCTION OF MISERY. Performances will be September 5-7 and 12-14 at 7:30 PM. You can purchase tickets for $15 here or at one of the following locations: St. Marys Chamber of Commerce, ECCOTA, Johnsonburg Nittany MinnitMart or the St. Marys Moose.

MONDAY (8/26)

🎉 Celebrate 100 years of the St. Marys Boys and Girls Club as they host a COMMUNITY FUN NIGHT from 6-8 PM on The Diamond. There will be great food, games, activities and live music for a fun night for the whole family!

In case you missed last week’s event… Dainty Lane Permanent Jewelry is hosting two POP UP EVENTS this week: Wednesday at the Creative Cup from 4-6 PM (239 Main Street, Ridgway) and Thursday at the Copper Fox Winery from 4-6 PM (1215 Million Dollar Highway, Kersey). Jenna will be offering her permanent jewelry and will have her custom hat bar set up.

WEDNESDAY (8/28)

💪 6:30-7:30 PM Yoga Heat | St. Marys*

👟 Get your ZUMBA on with Breanna at the St. Marys Memorial Park Clubhouse from 6:00-6:30 PM. She will also be offering a class on Saturday between 1:00-1:30 PM. The classes are $7. You can register for them here.

❥ Full disclosure, I’m not much of a “tattoo girl”, but … c’mon — how ca-uuute are these TINY TATTOOS?! I kinda want one now. You too? Rosebud Beauty Lounge will be offering these designs for just $60 at Dream Float St. Marys between 4-7 PM. — 930 S. St. Marys Street, St. Marys

THURSDAY (8/29)

🏝️ If you can’t get to the islands, do the next best thing and let Straub bring them to you! There will be leis, island music and special menu items. What more could you ask for?! It’s all at the LUAU PARTY happening between 5-9 PM. — 444 Brusselles Street, St. Marys

📚 Join author Rebecca Titchner at the Elk County Council on the Arts Gallery from 6-8 PM. She will be reading and signing her book A Ghost Comes Calling, an adoptee’s journey to understand a sister she never knew. The book is available for purchase now at ECCOTA and will also be available at the event. — 237 Main Street, Ridgway

🧑‍🎨🪴Join The Flower Bar for a fun and creative evening where you'll paint your own planter and pot plants to take home. They’re calling it PAINT & PLANT and it starts at 6 PM167 Main Street, Ridgway

🌽 ‘Tis the season for pumpkin spice lattes, bonfires with chunky blankets and.. corn mazes. Pine Ridge Farm is offering a variety this year starting with their “traditional” one (4-8 PM). SATURDAY (8/31)

🍿🎥 Movies under the stars are a summer must-do and while fall is right around the corner, there’s still time to check this activity off your bucket list with the OUTDOOR MOVIE NIGHT at the Benezette School ball field. A Bug’s Life will be playing at 8:30 PM, but there will be games, raffles and a concession stand starting at 8 PM. Free Admission.

Spread the word - New Horizons Healthy Foods have started a Kindness Club to help families by offering FREE personal hygiene packs that include soap, shampoo, toothpaste, and more! If you or someone you know could use a free pack, message them with the number of people in your household and ages. They’ll take care of the rest! Packs will be available for pick up during store hours in September.

🚨I’d like to start featuring a “Photo of the Week” in each newsletter and I’d love for you to submit a photo for a chance to be featured in a future issue of What’s Up Elk!

Farmer’s Markets are in full swing! Luckily for you, there are a few in the area to choose from that are full of homegrown and homemade products.

Ridgway Farmer’s Market: Tuesday, August 27 from 3:30-6 PM at the Ridgway Mills Campsites. 💡FYI: Vendors set up under a permanent awning so there’s no need to worry if there’s less-than-ideal weather ⛈️ There will be music by JB Unplugged and Anytime, Lunchtime will be there with their food truck. 260 West Main Street, Ridgway, PA 

Johnsonburg Farmer’s Market: Wednesday, August 28 from 4-6 PM — 569 Market Street, Johnsonburg

St. Marys Farmer’s and Artisan Market: Saturday, August 31 from 9-11 AM. Vendors vary by week, but expect to see local meat, produce, mushrooms, breads, soups, deserts, syrup, eggs, flowers, jams and soap. — Market Street Parking Lot (near Gunners and the bell tower).
